I cannot remember which list was discussing the tract Norwood, so I'm posting to both St. Mary's and Charles Co., lists.

At the request of Leonard Wood the following Deed was recorded this 8th day of December Anno
Domini eighteen hundred and one~
This Indenture made this eighteenth of November in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and
one between Gustavus Cartwright Junr of Saint Marys County in the State of Maryland On the
one part and Leonard Wood of Charles County and State aforesaid on the other part whereas Gustavus
Cartwright Senr late of Charles County died intestate and seized of part of two tracts or parcels of land
lying & being in said county the one called Norwood and the other Lapworth in consequence whereof
the said lands agreeably to the act of Assembly passed in the year seventeen hundred and eighty six
intitled "an Act directing descents descended to his Children equally and whereas according to the
tenor of said act of Assembly the Representatives of said Gustavus Cartwright Senr have Since prefered
a petition to the Court of said County for a Commission to have a division or valuation of said lands
effected agreeably to said law and it appearing to the commissioners appointed for that purpose that a
division was impracticable they valued the same in current money and made their return to Court
accordingly and whereas Samuel Cartwright as being the eldest son appeared at August Court
eighteen hundred and one and disclaimed in open court his right of preemption in to the said
lands in consequence whereof Gustavus Cartwright Junr part to the premises also appeared at
the same time and in open Court as the next eldest claimed and took upon himself the right of preemption
agreeably to the appraisement and valuation of said Commissioners & agreeably to their return to court made
and the said Court having ratified and confirmed the return of the said Commissioners and having
adjudged the right of preemption to the said Gustavus Cartwright Junr now this Indenture witnesseth
that the said Gustavus Cartwright Junr for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred
and twenty six pounds thirteen shillings & nine pence cury to him in hand paid before the ensealing
and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge

Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of
Walter Dyson, Jno Digges Gustavus Cartwright Junr

18th day of Nov came Eleanor Cartwright wife to the said Gustavus
and after being privately examined by us relinquished her right of Dower in and to
the premises and declared she did the same freely and of her own accord without being
induced thereto thru fear or by the threats of her said husband~
