Betty,
The past few days I've attempted to find more about the Allen Harbin & wife
Althea Carrico.
In my search, I've found suggestions that "Alice Carrico" married Allen
Harbin, an Enoch Harbin & John Harbin.
And, to top it off, there appears to have been 2 different Allen Harbin's ca
1778:
Allan Harbin who signed the oath in Charles Co., MD of Bryantown, per
"Charles County, Maryland, Revolutionary Patriots Listings" he is said to be
son of Elisha Harbin (source appears to be Trinity Parish records, Allen
born 5 Jan 1746).
Allen Cort. Harbin of Prince Geo. Co. MD
What's interesting, the Archives of Maryland have the 1783 assessment online
for Charles Co.
http://www.msa.md.gov/msa/stagser/s1400/s1437/html/1437ch.html
Listed is:
Allen Harbin, of William. 112 acres. CH 3rd District, General p. 7. MSA S
1161-4-10 1/4/5/47
also
Allen Harbin, of William. Maidstone, pt, 112 acres. CH 3rd District, Land p.
4. MSA S 1161-4-11 1/4/5/47
and
John Harbin. Maidstone, pt, 3 acres. CH 3rd District, Land p. 4. MSA S
1161-4-11 1/4/5/47
My guess is that Althea Carrico & Alice Carrico are one & the same. My guess
also is that the Allen Harbin who owned a part of Maidstone is the same
Allen Harbin who married Altha/Alice.
It looks like Allen was still residing in Charles Co. in 1790 he is listed
as Allen Harvin with 1 male over 16; 3 under 16; 2 females & 1 slave.
I don't see him in the early census index for KY but in 1810 he is listed in
Washington Co. KY & it appears he left a will there in 1812.
My original post abt. their dau. Agnes becoming a Dominican stated that
Agnes was born in Prince Geo. Co. MD, it is possible that part could be an
error., it seems they stated most of the orig. Dominicans were b. Prince
Geo. Co.

Agnes Harbin, O.P.
Sister Agnes, daughter of Allen Harbin and Althea Carrico, was born in
Prince George County, Maryland. She applied for admission into Saint
Magdalen's when she was 33 years old. Our record tells us that she was made
sub-prioress at St. Mary's in 1849. She died at St. Catharine's on February
12, 1872.
