Subject: [MDCHARLE] John Hagan s/o Ignatius Hagan
Date: Mon, 28 Apr 2008 18:26:12 -0700 (PDT)

Hi, most of the internet postings show a John Hagan as the son of Ignatius Hagan d 1765 and Magdalen Thompson d 1773.  Since John does not appear in Ignatius Hagan's will, inventory or Distribution, everyone show John dying before 1765. He does not appear in Magdalen Thompson's will written 1773..
The 65 acre tract Lanternam was mentioned in William Boarman's 1709 will as sold to Thomas Hagan Sr. It is then willed to Thomas' son Thomas Jr. in 1716. Thomas Jr. then will's it to his brother Ignatius in 1743. Ignatius refers to this land as the plantation he lives on (but not by name) in his 1765 will...But no John Hagan.
However, the following records show a John Hagan alive and well in Fairfax County. The conveyance mentions the tract as "the dwelling plantation of my father, Ignatius Hagan".
The last record is a 1764 conveyance shows an Ignatius Hagan Jr. who could be the father of this John Hagan. (Ign Jr the son of Thomas Hagan and Sarah Mudd). Perhaps Magdalen conveyed the land back to Ignatius' brother Thomas' son Ignatius who did have a son named John...or is John a Grandson?
Does anyone have records to show John's Parentage?
