Arnold purchased the property in Cherry Valley near Pike from Mechanicstown
to Emmitsburg from his brother Joseph 8 Sep 1888
[WIP-8, 18 and GG-8, 655); contained 16 acres and located 1 1/2 miles
south of Mt St Marys.

Testimony given by John A. PEDDICORD, 45, who resided at Mt St Marys;
also Augustus WAGNER, 57, from Emmitsburg District. Trustee was Vincent
SEBOLD. Sale was advertised in the Emmitsburg Chronicle and held at Western
MD Hotel in Emmitsburg on 27 Mar 1897. The land on Upper Mechanicstown Road
adjoined land of John Theodore PEDDICORD, deceased, and the heirs of Samuel
HEMLER. It contained a two-story log dwelling, frame weather-boarded kitchen
attached, log stable, stone spring house, hog pen and other out buildings;
had excellent well of mountain water near the door, fruit trees of apple and
peach, four acres cultivated and the balance in timber. Sale went to Maria
M. GORLEY for $165. There was also mention of a deed to Eliza J. CLAYBAUGH
and Arnold R. SEIS by Daniel SEISS, executor.
