On October 28, 1854, the home of Dr. John Baltzell of
East Church Street, now the home of the Historical Society
of Frederick County, was sold to Alexander B. Hanson for
$8,000.

On October 28, 1920, the Rotary Club of Frederick was
chartered at a banquet at The New City Hotel on West
Patrick Street in Frederick.

On October 28, 1968, Donald A. McGolerick, of New
Market, was sentenced to three years in prison for setting
fire to the barn of John F. Lewis on April 2, 1966. He
immediately appealed and was released on $45,000 bond.
This was the second of 15 separate malicious burning cases
brought against McGolerick.
