There is no Census of Frederick county in 1776 in existence. The only parts
found and transcribed are those areas that became Montgomery county and
that for the area around Elizabeth town (later Hagerstown) Washington county,
These two new counties were formed just after the census was taken.
The Oath of Fidelity was required of all males (over l8?) in Maryland in 1778
and while it gives a large body of men in the various counties, it does not
include those away in service.
