Hi, I am searching for my MAYBERRY's who were in the area back in the late 1790-1900. I am planning on visiting the areal very soon probably before the end of this month (August) providing my car gets repaired and trustworthy enough to get me there and back.

I am looking for my ggggrandfather Israel Mayberry who may have moved to the Frederick County area sometime after the Civil War. He was listed on the 1850 Census of Hampshire Co., Va(WV) Census as living in the household of John and Sarah Cooper.

One of his sons Peter J. Mayberry married Margaret Doyle dau of Wm. E. Doyle of Hagerstown former owner of Antietam House and a former member of the Maryland Legislature. Peter J. was also a member of the Maryland legislature in 1882, also was a former sheriff of Washington County, Hagerstown, Md. He was elected sheriff in 1875-77.

The Mayberry;s were related to the following surnames of Washington County (Doyle, Wm. E., Moberley/Mobley, Eli m. to Rebecca Mayberry, Up De Graff, Heard, surnames). I am hoping someone in the area knows these surnames and can give me some help on finding some contacts and information about these names. I have heard that there was a business named (MAYBERRY - MOBLEY CARRIAGE BUILDERS) sometime around the late and early 1850/60's. Also, an Up De Graff dry goods or clothing business in and around Hagerstown.

I am especially interested in finding Peter's older brother "Thomas" I have no information on him since the 1850 census of Hampshire Co., Va he was living in the household of his grandparents Peter & Mary Baer Hass of Romney, Hampshire Co., Va(WV). He may have also moved to Maryland prior to the Civil War. If anyone knows or has information on any of the above mentioned names please contact me.
