Hello!
I have learned that in 1960 a genealogy was written (hopefully, published)
by Harry Wright Newman (probably no longer living) that I would like to
locate...even to purchase a copy. It is entitled Tannehill Family of the
Province of Maryland. Mr. Newman, a genealogist, has a total of
twenty-five books available at the Library of the Maryland Historical
Society, but this is not among them.
At this time, researchers of the Tannehill Family are basically relying
upon (a) personal research and (b) a book by James B. Tannehill
(Genealogical History of the Tannahills, Tannehills and Taneyhills)
completed in 1939. Mr. Newman's book is carefully documented, I
understand, while Mr. Tannehill was not able to document all of his facts
-- and so his book is peppered with errors which can bedevil the innocent
researcher.
I have checked the Library of Congress online, and it appears that they do
not have it (oh! to be there in person!).
My thought has been to locate (a) Mr. Newman's family library, (b) locate
his publisher, and/or (c) to locate another researcher who either has seen
this book or can tell me who may have seen it. I am open to suggestion!
I am certain than many interested in the Tannehill Family have heard that
Mr. Tannehill's 1939 book is again available for sale, should one wish to
purchase a copy....
Sincerely,
Fleur M.
