We were in Frederick Co. MD for research two years ago. The Clerk, Civil
Court, Court House, has deeds from the county formation. Maryland State
Archives, Annapolis, and LDS also have them on film.

Frederick Co. has copied each page, reduced in size, laminated (as I recall)
and put in binders. Pages are easily removed (by staff) to make copies for
you. This eliminates the big bulky heavy deed books and eliminates
wear-and-tear on the original records. I have not seen this system
elsewhere, but it is worth duplicating.

Had one problem - I couldn't find one deed. I think it probably got put
back in the wrong place or wrong binder.

50 cents a page, I think. Which would apply to copies of index pages also, I
would think.
