There were basically two Protestant faiths in Germany in the 1700's.
The Lutherans followed reformer Martin Luther and the Evangelical
Reformed (which is the same as German Reformed) followed John Calvin.
There were also Lutherans from other countries (especially the
Scandanavian countries) who were also Lutheran, but each country had
it's own Lutheran church, so they were not "German Lutheran." The
Mennonites were a totally different group, followers of Menno Simons of
the Netherlands. They were Anabaptists, similar in many beliefs and
practices to the Dunkers (who were also called Church of the Brethren).
These latter groups were almost always pacifists and practiced
believers baptism.
