On March 23, 1878, the telephone made its first
appearance in Frederick at the Western Union Telegraph
Office where Charles F. Kreh was the manager.

On March 23, 1941, the Reverend Samuel S. "Toby"
Johnston became rector of All Saints Episcopal Church
in Frederick.

On March 23, 1977, eight members of the Bernard E.
Burkett, Jr., family died in a fire at their home on Walter
Martz Road just north of Frederick City.
