"Slabtown" - This area got it's name from the many "slab" houses
built for the railroad construction crews when this section of the B&O
Railroad was built. In 1866 when this section was completed, it was renamed
Limekiln. This because even in revolutionary days, lime was burnt here for
buildings and plastering. When the B&O appointed the first agent here, lime
burning was at a peak at this village near Buckeystown.
