On September 4, 1876, the cornerstone was laid for Quinn Chapel A.M.E.
Church on East Third Street.
On September 4, 1970, Hood College honored local philanthropists Samuel and Henrietta Rosenstock at the new Rosenstock Hall, which was named in their honor.
On September 4, 1972, fire damaged the Francis Scott Key Hotel at North
Court and West Patrick Streets in downtown Frederick.
