Jacob Edward Engelbrecht was the son of Jacob Leonard Engelbrecht who along
with his brother, George Washington Engelbrecht, continued the diary of
their famous grandfather; starting in January 1882 through 1895. Lewis
started the diary but became severely sick while eating a plate of apple
dumplings on Feb. 19, 1891. He died 4 days later in the same room as his
famous grandfather; along S. Market St., across from the MD School for the
Deaf. Jacob Leonard continued the diary for atleast 4 more years after his
brother's death.

This diary is now in the possession of the Historical Society of Frederick
County.
