On April 6, 1825, Mathias Bartgis died at age 69. He established the first
English language newspaper in Frederick - The Maryland Chronicle or
Universal Advertiser - in 1786.


On April 6, 1898, the first steps were taken to establish Grace Reformed
Church in Frederick.
