The reference Walt makes to swamp reminds me of a visit several years ago.
Alta Schrock led a one-car tour of her volunteers to the top of Mt. Nebo for
a picnic supper. We looked on Lake Louisa (?) and she told us of the bog
she had studied. Then we drove to the Bittinger area to visit 90-year-old
Mrs. Richter, who remembered my parents. Her son had made a peat bog in a
nearby field and would harvest it. It seemed to be an ongoing crop.
