Hi Ann,
Yes, it appears our lineages are crossing again. This is so much fun! And,
yes, Effie was married to Clarence Hetrick. Clarence's first wife, Florence
Miller, died after the birth of their (first) child Gladys (abt. 1914).
Clarence was grandson to my great grandparents, Conrad and Nancy (Uphold)
HETRICK. Clarence was the twin son of John and Ida (Lininger) HETRICK, my
g-aunt and uncle, and my grandparent's (Melchoir and Lizzie) nephew.
Clarence was killed in a mining accident just a couple of years after he and
Effie purchased the Ries. Effie married Liston. I have pictures of most of
them as well as Homer and Lawrence. Lawrence was the cousin that worked so
diligently to help me with the family history before he died in 1997. Story
has it that my Uncle John didn't get along well with his twins' wives. Wanted
them to farm and they had no interest. His other g-grandson, Ed Pyle, told me
that John was arogant and had a "don't tread on me" attitude.

Yes, their two boys were Blaine and Lawrence. They inherited the Historical
Ries Hotel in Accident and sold it to Carl Frazee in the early 1940's. I
think I recall that Effie died following an appendectomy.
