Connie - what great reading! Not just bark for the commercial
tanneries...but, like my grandfather, Emanuel "Bud" King, if you caught a fox or beaver the
hides were tanned. He probably sold them - even in the early 1940's & I don't
recall ever seeing them used in the King household. I'm very certain
Grandpap King also made homemade brews for home use & maybe sale in the 20's & 30's.
Never know on Backbone Mtn -- Altamont when a winter's day (or any day) will
call for a little toddy! Frances
