WALTER F. STEWART
KITZMILLER - Walter Frank Stewart, 87, of here died Saturday in Garrett
County Memorial Hospital, Oakland, where he had been admitted December 20.
He had been in ill health one year.
A native of Elk Garden, he was born January 7, 1883, a son of the late E.W.
and Rosetta (HARVEY) STEWART.
Mr. Stewart was a member of Local 4365, United Mine Workers Union, and was a
retired coal miner.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Florence Stewart; ten daughters, Mrs.
Edith DUMIRE, Hutton; Mrs. Armstrong of here; Mrs. Leona WOLFE, Mt. Lake
Park; Mrs. Robertus ARMSTRONG, North Baltimore, Ohio; Mrs. Neva DeWitt,
Wheeliing, WV; Mrs. Anna SHAFFER, Cumberland; Mrs. Zelma NELSON, Elizabeth,
PA; Mrs. Beatrice SEAMAN and Mrs. Bessie STARK, both of Baltimore, and Mrs.
Christine KENT, Deer Park; and a son, Darrell Stewart, Baltimore; three
sisters, Mrs. Lula STARK, Oakland; Mrs. Bessie SHARPLESS, Piedmont and Mrs.
Etta McCAULEY, Davis. He was preceded in death by five children. (doesn't
this make 16 children?)
The body is at the Sharpless Funeral Home. Services will be conducted
tomorrow at 2 pm at Nethken Hill United Methodist Church at Elk Garden by
Rev. George Tichinel. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will
be taken to the church an hour before the service.
