Pat,
A little more input on the question.
On March 17, 1876 my grandparents bought two military lots near
Gortner--#'s 2537 and 2568 comprising approx. 50 acres each from a couple
named Michael and Bridget Maroney. Do not know if this Maroney was the
original recipient or not. The deed states, they "covenant that they
will warrant generally the property hereby granted and that they have not
done or suffered any act or thing to be done to encumber the property
hereby surveyed and that they will execute such further assurances as may
be requisite"
