Dr. Alvin P. Friend DDS was born June 20, 1927 in Swanton, MD and passed away on March 3, 1997 in Oakland, MD. He was the son of Lenuel F. Friend and Delores (Sharpless) Friend. He was a WWII veteren - having served in the US Navy. He is survived by his wife - Ann (Phillippi) Friend, two sons - Jay Friend and fiance Sol Burnett of Sarasota, Fla and Michael Phillippi and wife Dawn of McHenry, MD, two daughters - Karen Wall and husband Ken of Sarasota, Fla., and Brenda harvey and husband Dennis of Oakland, MD, one brother - Ronald Friend and wife Beth of Oakland, MD, one sister - Luella Baker and husband James of Swanton, MD, eight grandchildren - Shawn Shannon, Laura Ann, Adam, Courtney, Kimberly, Cayse, and Kristi, and one g-grandchild, Avery Nicole. Burial was at the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
