Hi, List!
The 7 grandchildren of Clara Broadwater Speicher 1877-1972 had a magnificent celebration over Columbus Day weekend!
We played, ate and did farm stuff at John Zehner and son Kenny's farms in Somerset, PA. A crew visited a nearby pumpkin patch and stocked up for Halloween. A pew full attended Appalachian Sunday and debt-retiring services at Bittinger Lutheran Church. Clara's niece, Margaret Brenneman Hershberger, was one of the readers and we rejoiced to find her looking and feeling good. Another niece, Hazel Jane Broadwater Klotz, was there, too.
We lunched at Penn Alps and looked at family's former homes in Accident: Jonas Albert Speicher 1871-1916, Harvey Joseph Speicher 1873-1935, Henry Milton Speicher 1875-1905, William Asa Speicher 1878-1930, and their father, John P. Speicher 1846-1925.
A contingent visited Perry Broadwater's farm, Bittinger Cemetery, and Accident Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
And that was Friday to Sunday! Think what we might have accomplished in a week!
Now we're home - Brentwood, England, Alexandria, Triangle and Verona Virginia, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Louisville, Kentucky, with lovely memories!
If anyone has been writing me via the MDGARRETT site, I haven't answered because I couldn't download it for about two months. Please try my address, just in case that happens again.
