Hi Pat,
Yes, the only John & Mary I have on file that is "close" is also John W.
"Yankee" Friend & Mary E. Markley.
However...while they do fit...they also don't...ya know?
I list John's bio-mother Elizabeth (Johnson) Friend as born in PA and she
had died in 1875.
John had a step-mother Sarah (Rice) Friend in 1880, but she is listed as
still living with her husband Henry over in Upshur Co. WV for that same
census. Also, that Sarah was born in WV and her parents were born in
Connecticut and Virginia, according to that census.
So if this is John W. "Yankee" Friend, s/o Henry.... then who the heck is:
"Sallie " " Mother S Female W 38 MD House Keeper MD VA" ?
It's not his step-mother or his older sister Sarah Catherine "Kate" either.
She was married to David Sines that year and also living in Upshur Co. WV.
Where did you see them listed with a daughter named Amanda? I didn't have
her or Rosa.
Hmmm?
Bye for now,
Kathleen
BTW...I list the Rosa Ellen Friend who married Abraham M. Lee as the d/o
John Bunyan Friend Sr. and Harriet Ann Comp.

wife, Mary E. Markley. They had a daughter Amanda.

Whitehair, 29, of GCMD, single, on Dec. 21, 1887. This doesn't seem to fit
but I thought I would toss it out there. It might help someone else.
