Todd,
The Moses Matheney from Frostburg died in 1870 perhaps before the census was
taken.
I am taking this from an obituary that is in the Percy Cemetery book-"In 1870
Mrs. Matheney lost her husband by death, and in 1873 removed to Meyersdale
with her son-in-law, Nicholas Hocking. "
"Mrs. Elizabeth died in Meyersdale on Wednesday night of old age. She was
eithty-three years old and well known by many people here, having made Frostburg
her home for many years. She was the wife of the late Moses Matheney, the
well known miller for Mr. David Percy's mill during the civil war"
She was born in Shepherdstown, Va.
If you think this is the Matheney that you are researching, let me know and I
will send you the rest of the information that is in the obituary.
I am not researching this family, but happened to see the name in the Percy
Cemetery Book.
Phyllis
