Thanks Alice! We did not have any information on Grashias parents, but with your help I now have that information.
I spoke with my husband's stepmother, Jean Barello, and got information on Alphonso Barello Sr. The last name originaly was Boccafurno. I found his records on Ellis Island. He arrived from Sicily in 1916 at the age of 17. He was bound for West Virginia to visit a cousin, I believe. The ship manefest lists Beatrice as his mother. He arrived with an uncle and Jean told me he was left here. We have no idea why. The story my husband and I have been told is that Alphonso Sr. was a moonshiner. I do know that his nickname was Plute and Alphonso Jr. was called Little Plute. Alphonso Jr. worked in Baltimore and stayed there while he worked, but his home with Jean was in Oakland. He died February 1973 and is buried in the Oakland cemetery.
Jean says she and Al used to take Grashia to Morgantown to visit a relative, I believe tha last name was Manccini (not sure about the spelling). I'm wondering if that might be where she was born.
When my husband, Jerry Barello, went to visit his dad, Al Jr., in the summers of 1966 & 1967 Grashia and Adeline lived in Oakland.

Mary Jane was not Alphonso Sr.'s daughter. I did find out that Alphonso Sr. died in 1953.

Again, many thanks Alice! Our oldest grandson, Darell, is excited to find out more about his family roots. I'm excited to have found more information and an ally that has provided family information to me. I want my grandsons to know as much about their heritage as I can find.
Now I can broadcast another search for Grashias family and see what results I get.
