It is likely that Mary Jane's husband (or earlier family) was from Barbour
Co., WV. The sister Isabelle Mayles' husband (or earlier family) may have
had roots in Barbour or Taylor Co., WV. The persons having surname Collins
may have connections to the same
area. If you have any spousal names or others of these three families, I
might be able to find something for you. Both Croston and Mayles have
migrated extensively to Detroit. Many from the same source areas in WV
have been known to have established employment in several Maryland cities,
particularly during world war II but also earlier.

with your help I now have that information.

on Alphonso Barello Sr. The last name originaly was Boccafurno. I found
his records on Ellis Island. He arrived from Sicily in 1916 at the age of
17. He was bound for West Virginia to visit a cousin, I believe. The ship
manefest lists Beatrice as his mother. He arrived with an uncle and Jean
told me he was left here. We have no idea why. The story my husband and I
have been told is that Alphonso Sr. was a moonshiner. I do know that his
nickname was Plute and Alphonso Jr. was called Little Plute. Alphonso Jr.
worked in Baltimore and stayed there while he worked, but his home with
Jean was in Oakland. He died February 1973 and is buried in the Oakland
cemetery.

relative, I believe tha last name was Manccini (not sure about the
spelling). I'm wondering if that might be where she was born.

find out more about his family roots. I'm excited to have found more
information and an ally that has provided family information to me. I want
my grandsons to know as much about their heritage as I can find.
