Can anyone on the list fill in more information on the
household listed on the 1860 census, Allegany County,
District 2, Selbysport, page 236 that shows:
Franklin Friend age 40, Mary Friend age 20, and
Margaret Friend age 8.
Was Mary Franklin's daughter? wife?
Who were they related to, and where are they by the
1870 census.
I was wondering if Franklin was in the Civil War. The
soldier registry
(http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/soldiers.htm) shows no
Franklin Friend from a Maryland or nearby state unit,
but there are listings for Benjamin F. Friend in the
3rd Regiment, Potomac Home Brigade, a unit largely
filled from Allegany County. I think it is possible
Franklin Friend could actually be named Benjamin
Franklin Friend.
Anyone out there know this family?
