Hi there,
While we're touching on Garrett Co. KINGs..........have we ever established who "Emanuel King alias Cook a yellowman.." was?
He was mentioned in a Feb.26.1853 Bill Of Complaint in Garrett Co. that our Pat Thompson came across while researching
certain heirs of Nicholas Paugh:
.
".....Be it remembered that heretofore to wit on this twenty sixth day of February in the year eighteen hundred and fifty three, the said Philip H. Paugh and John Friend by their solicitor, George A. Peane, filed in court here their Bill Of Complaint in the words following to wit: To the honorable Thomas Perry, Judge of the circuit court for Allegany County as a court of equity. The bill of complaint of Philip H. Paugh and John Friend of Allegany County and State of Maryland humbly shows that your orators , John Paugh, Richard Paugh, Mary Ann Paugh, Jane Paugh who married Emanuel King alias Cook a yellowman.........<snip>" (quote)
.
Jane Paugh King d/o Sarah Bray & Nicholas Paugh is listed as b:May.1835.... which is all I have on her as an individual. Her sister Sarah, who married Nicholas Friend, is my husband's 3xgreat-grandmother.
Does anyone know more about Jane Paugh &/or Emmanuel King? The tiniest bit would help.
Thanks,
Bye for now,
Kathleen
