Shirley, Now you have me curious, too. Smile. I would like to know
if you have seen any "Oden" mentioned in books as a member
of the Society of Friends. I do not know the religion of my ancestor
John B. Oden (1821-1863). He was born in Maryland. He lived in
Clarksburg as a shoemaker (1850 census) and lived in Sandy Spring
(1860 census). The 1860 census shows that Alfred J. Oden, a neighbor
of John B. Oden in Clarksburg and moved to Sandy Spring and
became John's neighbor again. John was buried in Sandy Spring
in 1863 at the age of 42. I do not know the name of a cemetery
he was buried in there. His wife Joanna and her six children
removed to Frederick, Maryland, two blocks from the Mount
Olivet Cemetery between 1863 and 1869. Then Joanna removed
John B. Oden's remains from a Sandy Spring cemetery to the
Mount Olivet Cemetery in 1872. Joanna herself was a confirmed
Presbyterian before marrying John B. Oden according to a
Presbyterian church record I found in 1980s. If you see more
Odens as members of Friends, please kindly show the names
because I am still searching for John B. Oden's parents.
Thank you for your assistance.

There is a book called Maryland's Garrett County Graves compiled by
Youghiogheny Glades Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution,
Oakland, MD. I don't have Martha Kahl's address here but maybe someone
has
it and will post it to order. I think you can still order from Garrett
County Historical Society in Oakland or Penn Alps in Grantsville, MD.

Now you have me curious as to where you belong and who you are related
to.
I am librarian at the Friend family genealogy library in Friendsville and
we
accept all genealogy for research to all.
We are open May - Oct but if I know ahead of time when someone comes to
the
area, I open for them. Leave me know. Thanks Shirley >>>
