I was born in 1948 and Mildred Sharpless was supposed to be the midwife to
deliver me, however, when on the day my mother was in labor, there was a
mine cave in and she had to assist with the miners on that day. She was a
midwife, her father owned the funeral home which was in Blaine, but since
Kitzmiller is right over from Vindex, she may be a likely person to have
helped in the delivery of babies during that period of time.
