I have a problem and I hope someone who is also
researching the name Pendergast can help me connect
these families. From St. Peter's church in Oakland I
have found the following baptismal information:
1868 child Martin son of Martin Pendergast (from
Galway) and Maria Wallace (from Longford)
* 1872 child Martin son of Martin Pendergast (from
Ireland) and Margaretta Shaffer (from Germany)
1880 child Steven son of Michael Joseph Pendergast
(from Galway) and Bridget Murphy (from Preston Co.,W.
Va.)
* 1882 child Michael John son of Joanni (Thomas)
Pendergast from Garrett Co. and Bridget Rowan/Roan
from W. Va.
I know that Martin Pendergast married to Margaretta
Shaffer and Thomas Pendergast married to Bridget
Roan/Rowan were half brothers.
Since the name Pendergast is not a common name and all
these families lived near St. Peter's I believe that
they are interrelated but have not found the link.
Can anyone shed a light on my dilemma?
