Subject: [MDGARRET] SS Death Date and Cem date conflicts

This is the first time this has happened to me. I found the date of death
for a Louise Jordan on the SS Death Index as 04 March 1991. I asked for
someone local to see if an obit had run in the Oakland newspaper around this
date. Well, after some diggin' and mostly a good bit of guessing, I have
found Mary "Louise" Jordan (nee Steppe) buried at St. Mary's cem. in
Cumberland. Their records show her dying in Oakland, MD on 20 Mar 1991 and
being buried at St. Mary's cem on 23 Mar 1991.



Would the nice person who looked for an obit mention for me previously do it
again but this time for the period of 20 Mar-25 Mar 1991? Maybe there was a
local mention. It sure would make me feel better to know that her death at
92 was worthy of a mention. Her husband was a Luther Jordan who died 21 Apr
1964 and is buried next to her at St. Mary's.



Has this type of error in the SS Death Index ever happened to anyone else?
