Cathy,

The Pope family name was originally Popp, or possibly Bopp. Philip Popp
was born circa 1811 in Bavaria. I'm not sure when he immigrated, but he
married Theodora Fisher on 4 December 1840 in Allegany County (probably
in the area of Garrett County known as Grantsville).

To the best of my knowledge, they had the following children:
1. George Popp, b. 27 Nov 1842, d. 15 Jul 1928
2. Lewis Popp, b. 27 Nov 1842, d. 15 Jul 1928
3. Peter Pope, b. 30 Jun 1845, d. 1928 (My great-great-grandfather)
4. Mary Popp, b. 28 Aug 1847, d. 1 Feb 1907
5. Elizabeth Popp, b. 6 Aug 1849, d. 8 Aug 1936
6. Margaret Popp, b. 4 Oct 1852, d. 22 Mar 1941
7. David Popp, b. 22 Feb 1854, d. 4 Jan 1946

See my web site at <http://www.keatingsearch.com/MyGenealogy/p889.htm>;
for more on Phillip and his family. A descendant chart is on
<http://www.keatingsearch.com/MyGenealogy/ld7.htm>;, although the public
version only contains information on the living.

If you are a descendant of this Bopp/Popp/Pope family, I'd love to share
more information from you. My fraternal grandmother was born Sara
Elizabeth Pope, and each year (last weekend, in fact), we have a
Keating/Pope family reunion in Glenelg in Howard County. I print out the
trees for both the Keating and Pope families, and they each wrap around
the front and side of the house.

On the subject of washing, I can't believe that pressure washing is a
good idea, seeing what it does to the grout in my home. I'm sure others
have better ideas, but I'd definitely stay away from the pressure washer.

Cheers!
John
