Way back in February of 2004, Connie Beachy forwarded a query (see

to the Western Maryland genealogy lists about a tavern near the Shades
of Death in Garrett County:

I've been going through pictures that belonged to my grandmother, and
found the following picture (
<http://flickr.com/photos/keating/2068694263/>; ) of Guntertown. My
grandmother, Sara Elizabeth (Pope) Keating, was raised in that area of
Garrett County.

I wonder, beyond geographical proximity, if Guntertown had any
significance to my family?
