This question is an area question. You folks seem to have a handle on MD/PA
area. My ancestor, Joseph Mendenhall, served in the Rev War in three
different capacities. One was a teamster. In his application for pension he stated:

"He served the remainder of his time after this battle near the
Valley Forge. that he served his full two months
at this time and was discharged. That in September
and October of the year 1778 he was pressed into the
service with his waggon and team and was engaged
in hauling from _______? [dragonette] to Lancaster most
of the time. That he was two months in the service
in 1778."

I have never been able to determine what or where "dragonette" is. Are there
any ideas?

Joseph lived and served in Chester County, PA until after the war.
