Dear MDHOWARD List Subscribers,
Our November 14, 2007 meeting will feature a presentation on Civil War era
genealogical research. From the census before the War, to compiled military
records of service during the War, to the pension afterwards, knowing the
military service and his life afterwards can provide insight into the history of your
ancestor.
Craig Roberts Scott, MA, CG is President and CEO of Heritage Books, Inc., a
genealogical publishing firm with over 3,000 titles in print located in
Westminster, Maryland. He is a professional genealogist and historical researcher
with over 22 years experience. He has written or co-authored a number of books
and numerous articles in the National Genealogical Quarterly, Family
Chronicle and many other genealogical publications. He is a Director of the
Association of Professional Genealogists, on the faculty at Samford University
Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research, and a Governor-at-Large of the
Virginia Genealogical Society.

founded to aid and encourage the study of family history, to preserve and collect
genealogical records, and to assist local libraries in developing their
