I was planning a research trip to MSA, and went to their web site. As I just
got a microfilm reader, I checked out their policy. Anyway...apparently you
can buy just about any roll of film they have for $10, and inter-library
loan for $5. Is this news to anyone? For Georgia records, I have to get a
letter from a county judge to buy the film. And Virginia doesn't sell, they
only do ILL. MSA said they also sell Church Records, too. I am jumping for
joy!
I plan to buy the Kent land indexes. (1648-1851) and (1851-1962) is on just
two rolls of microfilm! And the Wills index 1674-1965 is on a third. Of
course, I will still have to get the rolls that the actual records are on
after I locate them, and then take them to the library to copy, (until my
husband buys me a digital camera for my birthday...) but I am thrilled. The
archives is coming to me, and this is much cheaper than a night in a hotel
in Annapolis, and more convenient that the FHCs.
Is everyone doing this, and I'm just clueless, or is this news?
Amy
