For those of you have databases listing the descendants of Richard & Winifred (Jenkins) Lanham, whether it be your private database, or a database that you have submitted to a web site, or, if you have submitted a database that is on a disk, such as the Family Tree Maker discs, I would like to ask:

What is your source for showing Richard & Winifred Jenkins Lanham, as having children named Benedicta Lanham, and Cushman Lanham?

The Will of Winifred Lanham - 1771 - does not have a Cushman listed. The name, Justinian, is being misread as Cushman. Justinian Burch, was the son of Anastatius "Stacy" Lanham Burch McDonald, named after Stacy's first husband's father, Justinian Burch. Stacy married first, Edward Burch, son of Justinian & Susanna Davis, Justinian, being son of Oliver and Barbara Tennison Burch. Justinian Burch, was a grandson of Winifred Jenkins Lanham.

There is no Benedicta Lanham. The Will clearly states that Benedict Hardy, is Winifred's grandson. It is believed that Richard & Winifred Jenkins Lanham's daughter Elizabeth Lanham, first married William Hardy, and then married a Mr. Crayton.

Knowing that Justinian Burch, was the son of Anastatius "Stacy" Burch McDonald, and that Benedict Hardy was Winifred Lanham's grandson, this tells me that in Winifred Lanham's Will, when she writes
"Among my Children & Grandchildren hereunder mentioned Edward Lanham Rachel Mitchell Mary Lanham Benedict Hardey Justinian Burch & Ann Clements"
Winifred has mixed grandchildren's names amongst the names of her children, and just because she has listed three of her children's names in this group of names, doesn't mean that all of them are her children.

Also, in the Will of Winifred Lanham, she writes:
"I give and bequeath unto my grandson Benedict Hardy one hundred Eight & three Pounds of Tobacco that is in the Hands of my Daughter Mary Lanham..."

Questions:
Anyone have proof that Richard & Winifred Jenkins Lanham, actually had any children named Cushman and/or Benedicta/Benedict?

Anyone have information on the husband's of Richard & Winifred Jenkins Lanham's daughter, Elizabeth?

Anyone have information on Richard & Winifred Jenkins Lanham's granddaughter, Mary Fry?

Anyone have proof that the Mary Lanham, who has possession of the tobacco that Winifred Lanham, wants to be given to her grandson Benedict Hardy, is really a daughter of Winifred Lanham, and not her daughter-in-law, who was possibly the wife of Zachariah Lanham, who was deceased prior to Winifred Lanham's Will?

I welcome any and all corrections, and additions, and I invite descendants of Richard & Winifred Jenkins Lanham, to respond to my email, as I am always searching for information concerning this family.
