Bob,

How or when the flags began, I really don't know. They are simply
decorative. We have recently begun using them on on our patio. I plan to
change the flags with the season or for a special holiday. We have one for
Christmas, and just now I have put on one with a bird's nest and eggs for
spring. Just something pretty.

We have a project in mind, whereupon, I will make a flag of the Wallace
Tartan and use it sometimes. I am looking for one with a gray kitty cat, as
that is the color of our "Smokey".

Offhand, I would say a decorator began using them just for something
different.

saw several colorful flags at peoples' houses-sometimes flowers, sometimes
just designs. When I tried to find the history of these flags or pennants,
no one could tell me how or when they originated. Does anyone know? Thanks.
