October 1, 1655 Robert Clarke makes a Bond to Henry Adams of
Maryland. Robert Clarke shall after marriage contracted between him
and Mrs. Jane Causine Widow, permit unto such persons, as she shall
thereto appoint from time to time the propriety & possessions of all
the Estate left her, by late husband Nicholas Cawsine deceased,
without interruption or molestation, then this bond to be void, but
else to stand in full force . sealed and delivered in possession of
Locus Sigilli and Robert Clarke
1655 (sometime after 1 October 1655 and before 7 January 1656 -
Robert Clarke marries 3rd wife Jane Hicks (who was born 1612 in
England) who had been married 1st to John Cockshoot. 3 children from
her first marriage they are: John Cockshoot, Mary Cockshoot age 23 in
1658 , and Jane Cockshoot age 17 in 1658.
Jane Hicks Cockshoot married 2nd to Nicholas Causine. she has two
sons from 2nd marriage they are: Nicholas Causine, and Ignatius
Causine. It was Jane Hicks (Cockshoot) (Causine) Clarke whose
daughter Mary was born about 1638 and married Henry Adams )
7 January 1656 Henry Adams & Thomas Mathews for the use of Jane
Clarke, the late relict of Nicholas Cawsine deceased: to have & to
hold unto the said Henry Adams & Thomas Mathews to & for the sole
benefit & use of the Said Jane Clarke & her Heirs forever & in
witness where of I set my hand this 7th day of January 1656. William
Mitchell.
Nicholas Causine's will was probated in 1656.

Mrs. Jane Clarke demands warrant against Mr. Thomas Lomax and
Humphrey Attwicks; debt
October 29, 1656 Sold and delivered by me Robert Clarke , unto Robert
Macklin one Black Cow aged six years or thereabouts, commonly known
by the name Ffoole, which sale and delivery I do & will announce and
meantime against all lawful Claims. Witness my hand the day and year
above written. Witness Signature John Clarke, Robert Clarke
Court and Testamentary Business, 1657
Mr. Robert Clarke aged forty six yeares or thereabouts Sworne and
examined this 4th of November 1657 Sayeth that he this Deponent
bought of Mr. William Eltonehead one servant for two thousand pounds
of Tobacco which said Tobacco Mr. Eltonhead turn'd over to Mr. Thomas
Marsh, and the Deponent farther Sayeth that he stood Debtor in Mr.
Marshes book near two year for the same and farther this Deponent
Sayeth, that when Mr. Marsh made up his accompt with this Deponent,
that he said Mr. Marsh did not charge the said debt of two thousand
to this Deponent. and farther this Deponent Sayeth not Robert Clarke
Robert Clarke served Upper House 1658, 1659/60, 1661,1662, 1663 Died
before 2nd Session of 1664.
Robert Clarke-1658-1664 stands on Public/ Private issues:
1658- William Hewes instituted action against Robert Clarke for
repairs on "Green's Rest." . at that time the Madam Greene-Clarke was
deceased. Hewes Claimed that the Captain William Stone engaged him
for the work and that overseers of the estate of Thomas Greene should
be responsible for the expenditures.

1658- Richard Collett complaineth against Mr. Robert Clarke in an
Action of Debt of 656 principle debt by bill, besides court charges.
Summons to Robert Clarke to answer the Complaint.
1658- 16 August the deposition of Jane Clarke aged 46 years or
thereabouts Sworn & examined this 16th of August 1658. Her daughter
Jane Cockshoot was given as age 17 years or Therabouts her answer to
the fores Interrogatories, upon oath & Examination, dated 1758.
She again in another documented occasion Jane Cockshute as it's
spelled in this document" age 17 years sworne & examined sayeth, that
she was present at Mr. Gills sickness & death, her mother Jane Clarke
on May 31 1658 aged 46 years or thereabouts sworne & examined sayeth
That Mr. Benjamin Gill late of this Province Deceased dyed at her
house at Portback the 22th of November in the year 1655.....
Mary Cockshoot married Henry Adams and gives her date of birth as Follows:
Mary Adams of this Province age 21 years or Thereabouts Sworn and
Examined sayeth she was at portoback at her Mothers house at the time
Benjamin Gill Dyed...
So if Jane Hicks(Cockshoot) (Cuasine) Clarke was 46 in 1658 she was born 1612.
16 August 1658 the deposition of Mary Adams aged 21 years old or
thearabouts sworn & Examined this 16th day of August 1658. mentions
step father Nicholas Cuasine and sister Jane Cockshoot, & her brother
Ignatius & Nicholas Cuasine. (Mary Cockshoot married Henry Adams)
(Jane Cockshoot the daughter married Thomas Mathews.)
at this time Jane Cockshoot was not married yet.

Jane Hicks(Cockshoot)(Causine) Clarke died about 1662.

Jury impaneled to view the body of Elizabeth Johnson, servant unto
Daniel Johnson, and to the best of their understanding to determine
the case of death; jury consists of Edward Philpot, foreman; Edward
James, William Marshall, Henry Moor, John Barker, Richard Morriss,
Nicholas Gros, Robert Clarke , John Nut, Gilbert Turner, Francis
Ferenla, Thomas Strang, verdict that Elizabeth Johnson was hanged and
murdered herself with a bridle rein.
Entry 253 Robert Clarke and John Clarke, gent assign Thomas Baker,
gent a 4 year old mare; 4 feb 1663/64; Robert Clarke, John Clarke;
wit George Thompson, Ignatius Causeene. Robert Clarke and John Clarke
sell to George Thompson a gelding, 18 Feb 1663: Robert Clarke , John
Clarke; wit Ignatius Causeene, John Dobson
according to these records we know Jane Hicks (cockshoot) Causine
Clarke was still alive in 1658, but we know she was dead by 1662.
I don't know if there is a better record than the Deposition of
Phillip Hoskins which proves she died shortly after her marriage to
Robert Clarke the Surveyor, but When Robert Clarke died in 1664 he
did not mention her in his will which proves she preceded him in
death.
