Sorry that no one seems to know of any good deed or legal wording precedents
type books to help me! Believe it or not, my DAR "proof checkers" have told
me that these deeds are not likely to be accepted because there is no
specific statement "Thomas, whose son is/was Thomas, junior" ! I find this
incredulous and am trying to learn the accepted language denoting
relationship. These are 1805 and 1807 deeds. Any suggestions out there?
Thanks.

Subject: [MDSTMARY-L] Names in deed question
Please forgive this very basic question, I am a newbie!
When a deed lists a given name and repeats it with surname and also Jr. Is
this an indication of lineage?
My specific: Thomas Lusk had son Thomas had son Thomas. An 1805 deed reads,
"Thomas Lusk(location/etc) of the first part and Thomas Thomas Lusk, junior
and David Lusk...of the second part..." Thomas(II) is deeding to Thomas
Thomas(III) Lusk, Jr. and David Lusk in this case, but no specific
relationship is stated.
I am trying to prove that Thomas II is father of Thomas III and don't know
if this can be used?
2 years later, after Thomas II passed, his wife Elizabeth, Thomas, his wife
Sally, David, his wife Rhoda, listed as "of the first party", all sign over
property to a second party; including signatures in this order (5) +
grantee. Again, no specific relationship stated.
Thank you very much for any help.

Hardin Co., KY
Francine,
I am not researching this line, nor to the best of my knowledge do I
have Catholic ancestry. I can give you a little perspective that
might help you with your search. I hope this can help you in your
research. When the great exodus of Catholics occured in St. Mary's
Co., many settled in KY, some in Washington Co., some in Hardin Co
among others. At some point thereafter there were other migrations to
other areas of KY and I'm sure westward from there. As an example,
folks migrated from Washington/Hardin Counties to Daviess Co.
(Owensboro) then later from there to Fancy Farm in Graves Co. both of
these communities still have healthy Catholic populations. I would
imagine this same scenario happening in other parts of KY, but these
are the ones I am familiar with.
Hope this helps.
Gary
