Seeking information on parents/siblings of James Madison BOWLING, born 1810
in Kentucky and died on 03 Dec 1863 in Lexington, Kentucky. James Madison
BOWLING married on 28 Dec 1831 Elizabeth BUMGARDNER, daughter of Christian
BUMBARDNER (born in Augusta Co, Virginia) and Edith Elizabeth EDSALL. The
family resided ona farm near the Green River in Hart County, Kentucky. James
Madison BOWLING died while serving with the Union troops during the Civil War.
James Madison BOWLING and Elizabeth BUMGARDNER had the following children,
all of whom were born in Hart County, Kentucky:
James Henry Bowling, born 22 Oct 1833
Martha E. Bowling, born 1836
George Washington Bowling, born 19 Mar 1837 (my gggrandfather)
Waddle Bowling, born 1838
John Lewis Bowling, born 11 Oct 1840
Thomas Anderson Bowling, born 12 Oct 1841
Gaines David Bowling, born 29 Dec 1844
Sarah Elizabeth Bowling, born 30 Apr 1846
Catherine Bowling, born 17 Apr 1848
Mary Bowling, born date unknown
Family traditions state that the father of James Madison BOWLING was Edward
BOWLING, but I have no proof of this. Any clues or suggestions on this
family would be greatly appreciated.
