Good Morning Listmembers,
I have been researching for 17 years now, and have learned some very
important lessons. There are some researchers who are like a sponge,
they take every tidbit of information that you give them and never give
anything back in return. There are those who take your information and
documentation and turn it into their "work of art". There are those who
will work side by side with you and help you to cover that much more
ground, and there are those who have all the "gospel-truth" information
and there is no variation.
I really appreciate hearing the views of both sides of a
discussion. It's the name calling and putting down that I can't
tolerate. There is a lot that can be learned in research by listing to
each of them give their sides. They would both make good defense
lawyers, but the judge wouldn't allow them to continue with the insults
to each other. Why not just send a message and say "To the best of my
knowledge, this is what I beleive to be true, due to this
documentation". That way we could all look up the documentation listed
and decide for ourselves. You both have some great points, but I guess
my question is, who determined that either of you were perfect? There is
no proof of the documentation being perfect either, so there is room for
error in anything we do here.
The biggest thing that I have learned in researching is that you
never want to "dangle" all correct information in front of someone. They
will take it, write it down, and that is the last you ever hear of them,
but I promise you if you put down one "typographical error", they will
be all over you, telling you that your info is WRONG!!! They will then
give you the correct information and you have mission completed!
Come on now, let's all put our energy into the search for our
family information there in St. Mary's County, instead of tearing each
other apart. Hope all you mom's out there have a great Mother's Day, and
for those, who like me have lost your mom, cherish the memory and vow to
get another generation completed for her sake. Happy researching! Jan
R.
