My ancestor is Isadore MOORE. This may be of interest:
1792 Isadore MOORE visited Kaskaskia, across the Mississippi River from the
southern part of Ste. Genevieve District. (He was only 20 years old.)
Again in 1797 Isadore made a second visit to the area together with Vincent
CARRICO and Thomas WORTHINGTON. They visited St. Louis, St. Charles and The
Barrens.
Finally in 1800 Isadore made a third visit to The Barrens before moving his
family there.
His land was a good distance away from Joseph FENWICKS, as Isadore wrote
more than 30 years later, " a difference of opinions in worldly matters, and
some other circumstances, prevented our wishing to be very close to each
other." (Isadore to Bishop Joseph Rosati 29 Sept. 1837, Arch. of Archdiocese
of St. Louis, quoted by O'Rourke in "...A Rel. Haven, p. 18))
