Thats one of life's mysteries:
Mary Ellen was godparent to Martha Susannah, child of Harriet Thompson in
1840 and was a witn. to the 1843 marriage of Benedict Jos. Abell to Jane A.
E. Clarke.
Mary Ellen's son, William Abell Hayden's godmother was Ann Sophia Abell, who
we think was a dau. of B.J. also know as B.I. Abell.

In 1850 census she lives next door to James Eliel Heard, son of Joseph Heard
who wed Sophia Western Abell,
dau of Francis Abell.
None of the Abell researchers I know have this one yet!

Joseph B. Norris 1896-1984 Army WW1
I believe that Lula was the dau. of John Combs Abell 1866-1933, Sr. &
Henrietta Joy 1877-1929 wed Calvert Co.4/7/1894

Beacon 1923: John Thomas Abell died at Bon Secours in Balto. after a short but
painful illness, aged 28. Born in Calvert Co., father moved to St, Marys
and John Thomas had just purchased home in Baltimore. Buried New Cathedral.
Survived by wife, Mabel Abell, son, Emeric Franklin Abell, his parents
who reside in Calif., Md. and 6 bros.: Joy, Clifton, Wilford, Combs, Harry,
and Edward; 7 sisters: Mrs. Jessie Grover of Solomon Island, Mrs. Brennon
Norris of Great Mills, and Della, Mary, Gertrude, Grace & Silvia Abell.

Jane Alice was the dau. of my gggfather, George Washinton Abell of Eliel who
wed MaryAn Isabella Stone,
dau. of Joshua Stone & Catherine Stone.
I have her wed (1) James Norris 2/24/1868 and (2) George L. Clarke 9/1882

1870 census District #6 Hollywood has:
James Norris 52, Alice, 22, Martha 23, Susan 21, Columbus 21, Sallie 12,
Thomas 22
and Washington Creighton Abell, 16 (he was Jane's brother)

1910 census Alice Clark, mother, 59, lives with Geo. S. Norris, 34, wife,
Florence 30.
Alice is listed as a widow with 3 of 7 children living

Unproven, I have him as the son of John Booth Abell and who wed Elizabeth
Abell 1780
and I have an approx. birth date as 1796

Estate Distributions of John Booth Abell 12/16/1811 p332, $1832.95 total
(first to use dollars & not pounds.
Elizabeth Abell, adm. widow 1/3,
children: Jane Clarke, Jonathan, John Booth, Elizabeth, Enoch & George Abell,
Jamima Floyd.
Each rec'd $126.97.


Orphans Ct. proc., p218, 6/1823, Enoch Abell, adm. of Jane Clarke petitions
to sell property to pay estate debts.
Jane Abell Clarke was Enoch's sister.
