Dear List,
I hope Carol Wyatt doesn't mind if I post what she found recently
Jerry; Have you seen all the Rent Roll listing in Charles Co. MD. 1753?
There are several different references to Clarks Purchase but
How about this one, it is referenced in the Lands not in the Debt Book of
1753:
Clarks, Purchase, 500 acres. Surveyed Mar 1, 1665 for John Clark on the
north side of the Main fresh of Mattawoman Cr.
Paid for by George Dent
Carol Wyatt
I have for some time been of the impression that John Clarke son of
Robert Clarke the Surveyor, might possibly have married Ann Dent. I
also have studied Phillip Lynes and it may also be possible that he
married Ann the widow of John Clarke.
If you review my page on Phillip Lynes you may see the same things I
do, a great deal of connection with the Dent Family. and when ever
Clarke's Purchase in Charles County, Maryland is mentioned there are
dents in attendance or Phillip Lynes.
Naturally nothing real obvious that can prove the theory, Not yet anyways.

commonly known as Nattingee containing 500 Acres; 9 Jan. 1681 John
Clarke signed over this original grant to his brother, Thomas Clarke;

120 L Philip and Ann Lynes now sell the 500 Acres of Clarke's

George Goodrich; /s/ Robert Clarke (mark); wit. Cleborne Lomax, Ralph Shaw,
Peter Dent.
Peter Dent on document above with Philip Lynes.
My question is why would George Dent pay for Clarke's Purchase unless
John Clarke married Ann Dent? Why would Phllip Lynes be on documents
concerning Clarke's Purchase and on Documents with Robert Clarke the
Surveyors Children unless he married the widow of John Clarke. and
Why would Practically ever document Philip Lynes is on there is a
Dent present.
I still have the suspicion even If I can't prove it.
sure like to have some other views on what you might see. Please
visit my web page on Phillip Lynes.
