Where I said:
>William BENNETT, son of Joseph BENNETT (and Elizabeth WILLIAMS) >of the 1787 will, died in 1815, age 62, so born about 1753. William may >have been the eldest child.

That should have been:
Joseph BENNETT, son of Joseph BENNETT...........Joseph may have been the eldest child.

Joseph BENNETT died 19 Aug. 1815, aged 62, buried at Fresh Pond Neck.

Another thought is that Richard BENNETT (d. 1805) and wife Anna were married by 1787 when they had a Negro baptized. If this is the Richard BENNETT, son of William BENNETT (d. 20 Dec. 1799 St. George's Episcopal), and grandson of Joseph as Linda listed, then:
Joseph BENNETT married Elizabeth WILLIAMS ca. 1751/2 (see my previous post)
Son Joseph born ca. 1753 from burial above
William probably wasn't born before 1755, unless by a wife of Joseph BENNETT's prior to Elizabeth WILLIAMS.

Could William have had a son [Richard] that was married [by 1787] when he William was no more than age 32 in 1787? Possible but the dates are getting tight. Who did Joseph BENNETT and Elizabeth WILLIAMS' son Richard marry? Was it also an Ann? I've gone back and forth on this before in my own mind, about Richard BENNETT-Ann of Linda's post as the son of William BENNETT and grandson of Joseph as she lists, or the son of Joseph (1787 will).

There was only one Richard BENNETT in 1790 St. Mary's census. One male over 16, 1 male under 16, 3 females. Possible one son and 2 daughters suggests born 1786, 1788, 1790, more or less in agreement with the married by 1787 above. In 1800 the only Richard has:
1 male over 45 [Richard]
1 male 16-26 [William?]
1 male 10-16 [Frederick]
2 males under 10 [Washington and ??, Dennis not born until 1801]
1 female 26-45 [Ann(a)]
2 female 10-16 [Mary and Charlotte?]
2 females undere 10 [Matilda and Angelica?]

If the age in 1800 is correct, then this Richard was born before 1755, and couldn't be the son of William, who was born after 1753.

Also, Linda, I don't have that Ann was a BURNS. Can you tell me your source for that? Thanks!

Rick Saunders
