Dear Judy,
I think we have a couple of generations mixed here. I have Vitus Herbert (b.
abt 1700 - d. 1726) who married Winifred Tant about 1715 to 1718. He was a s/o
William Herbert Jr. and Elinor Pattison (maybe Patterson) who married abt 1685.

Vitus and Winifred had at least two children, William and Joseph. There were
probably more I don't have since they were married at least 8 years before
Vitus' death.
Vitus had a sister Mary (b. abt 1710). She married James Duff abt. 1734 and
married second Thomas Drury after 13 May 1751.
Thomas birth was estimated by Pat Obrist (where I got this information) as
about 1702.
The Vitus you cite could have been a son or a nephew. Our Thomas could well
have been a witness since he would have been an uncle by marriage. John Dossey
may have been John Dorsey.

I am confused about one of the references you cited. The perogative Court
Abstracts volume titled 1724 - 1727 p. 54. How could Thomas' name be listed as
owing a debt to the estate of John Edwards in 1743 if the abstracts are supposed
to end in 1727 in that volume? Is there a typo or some other problem with the
citation ?

Hope this helps some

Don
