Hi, Linda,
I still have Mary as the wife of Robert, too, but I am seriously questioning
that placement. I have come to the conclusion that I consigned John's "Ann" wife
as a Williams based on the "uncle Benjamin Williams" statement in John's will.
But according to the abstract, first John makes "their uncle" Benjamin Williams
the guardian of Jonathan and Mildred, then speaks of his "two youngest children
and wife". That seems like strange wording if Benjamin Williams was related to
those "two youngest".
I can't find any other indication that "Ann" was a Williams. Do you have
anything else that shows that Ann was a Williams?
Bye,
Norma

Evans. Ann Williams' brother was Benjamin Williams, the uncle of John Pierce's
children (as named in his will).

She was NOK for the 1737 inventory of Joseph VanSWERINGEN. Her husband Robert
PEARCE in 1755 collected the share of his wife (unnamed) in the estate of Joseph
VanSWERINGEN (the one who died in 1720, not the one above). Robert and Eleanor
named a son Joseph Vansweringen PEARCE.

the *Maryland Calendar of Wills* 9:111 as John PACE.

looking at the will, I can see how someone could have misread in the body of the
will the "er" as an open "a," but the certification by the witnesses showed they
testified to the will of John PEARCE.

John then mentioned his wife Ann, son Stephen, with the residue to his wife and
four children. Benjamin WILLIAMS along with John's wife Anne were executors.

Ann, who then married James COMPTON.
