Hi, Linda,
Well, I don't have an answer about Ann Peake. I thought perhaps a daughter named
Ann had been assumed because the Rent Rolls show that the daughter of Joseph
Edloe married John Noble and John Noble's executor was named Ann. I couldn't
find any connection between the Nobles and the Peakes. However, other documents
show that the Edloe daughter's name was Jane, daughter of Joseph (d. 1700) and
Jane Edloe. (This Jane was possibly a Caine or a Wright, daughter of Thomas and
Jane Wright. Jane Wright was a witness to the will of Joseph Edloe the elder (d.
1666). Thomas Wright left items to Joseph Edloe. Jane Wright was given as Jane
Ryder on Thomas Wright's estate docs, and Henry Ryder was the guardian of the
brother, John Edloe, of the Joseph who died 1700. William Caine leaves his
estate, should his son not come into the province, to Jane daughter of Joseph
and Jane Edloe. To Joseph himself, if Jane should die.)
Ann Peake received a payment, true, but so did a whole lot of other people. I
don't know what the payment was, but she wasn't a legatee.
Bye,
Norma
